May I introduce… Iceland’s longest ski slope!

Yes. It’s in the North Iceland, about 30km north from Akureyri on the west side of Eyjafjordur bay. A whole 1174 meters. The mountain “Kaldbakur” is one of the highest peaks in Eyjafjordur and you can literally slope freestyle on any kind of ride you want from the top of the mountain, almost down to the small village of Grenivik.

Kaldbakur mountain is said to be one of the powerful energy sources in our beautiful country. We can truly feel the energy coming from this magnificent mountain but instead of harnessing it, we’d rather depend on the great snowcats that Kaldbaksferdir tours offer, to bring us to the top. The ride takes about 45min, combined maximum capacity is 52 people and we highly recommend to all of them to dress well, since it’s an open air cabin.

How you go down is really up to you! Bring your skis, snowboard, sledge or borrow the authentic Kaldbaksferdir-snowjet. If you’re just here for the view and the fresh air, you can ofcourse take a ride with the snowcat downhill again.

Check out Kaldbakur tours, it could be the highest peak of your journey!
